Travel for me and my wife is a passion. We love to experience new cultural, knowing other environment, and tasting the different local dishes. As Muslim, searching for halal is a must! where to perform salat? What to eat? Every single layer is a considera
Reaching Taipei main station at the afternoon and we are rushing to search for a prayer room. First time at the basement of main station, it is challenging for us to find the prayer room and luckily the signage at the main station so helpful for us to search the room which located at north-eastern corner of the station near the entrance to the Taipei Metro Tamsui-Xinyi Line.
Our stay at the City Suites Hotel main station was so welcoming and the self-check in services was easily done. The room was super clean and there is enough space for us to perform solat.
As beef noodle was a famous local dish in Taiwan, we plan to have it as a first dishes and we heading to famous halal beef noodle; Chang's Halal Beef Noodle which located 5 minutes walks from our hotel. Beef Noodle soup and dried beef noodle was so tempting.
We also tried another Halal beef noodle near to Shilin Night Market; -Feng's Halal Beef Noodle.
Halal restaurant can easily find around Taipei city and easy access using Taipei Metro. They not only treating us with delicious food, but they also provide praying space so that our solat will never missed. One of it was Yunus Halal Restaurant-Taipei.
If you are looking for halal fast food with various choices, there one famous Halal fried chicken shop in Taipei which is Fried Chicken Master where you need to try their meals.
Your travel was not completed if you not trying their famous bubble tea. There are plenty shop selling bubble tea and we got try some bubble tea shop which we familiar in Malaysia such as Xing Fu Tang, Tiger Sugar, Chatime, and C7 Taiwan Bubble Milk Tea.
We also tried their famous ice shave at Ice Monster. Huge portion served and one bowl can be shared with 2 persons. The combination of fruits and shave ice was perfect.
The transport network in Taipei was excellent. We use public transport all the time during this travel and most of the time we use the Taipei Metro and 4 and 5 times using public bus. Information in the public transport includes bus was properly display and clearly announced. It is very helpful for us to stop for next station/ bus stop.
Taiwan famous attraction was their night markets. Some that we visited are Shilin Night Market, Raohe Night Market, Ximending Night market and Ning Xia Rd. Night Market. There are plenty of street foods selling here and as a Muslim, we can choose the stall with vegetarian logo or can have the food from vegetables and fruits. Fresh fruit juices also sold here.
Mushroom and watermelon juices at night market
We found it easy to catch Muslim obligation here. The locals are warm hearted and friendly. We used to enter their shop without any intuition to buy, and surprisingly the shopper shows their kindness and never force us to buy their goods.
We also do some sightseeing. We went to famous 'Queens Head' at Yehliu Geopark but there is light rain while we visit there.
We also spend our evening ride the Maokong Gondola Cable Car and from here we can see the Taipei 101 tower nicely while riding the gondola.
Before leaving Taiwan, do not forget to bring back their popular traditional food souvenir which is the pineapple cakes! The snack is usually square shaped with a buttery, chewy, and flaky pastry on the outside with sweet pineapple filling on the inside. The one with Halal-certified by Taiwan Integrity Development (THIDA) was Vigor Kobo. There serve Halal pineapple cakes at the Halal section in their outlet.
As whole, Taiwan is amazing. Their friendliness, cleanliness facilities and amenities make us comfortable and leave an everlasting memory. We plan to go to another county for our next visit to Taiwan.
